MS Taxation (MST) Summary
The MST Program is a 30-unit program designed to help tax professionals advance in their career and for new practitioners to jumpstart a career in the tax field and earn the necessary 150 units to become a CPA. SJSU MST students gain technical skills in the tax field to help them identify tax issues and they gain knowledge and experience with tax research to find answers to those questions. In addition to understanding taxation from a technical perspective, students also learn to understand tax from a policy perspective. Students learn how to use their expansive tax knowledge and skills for professional development and how to manage their career progression. The SJSU MST program is home to The Contemporary Tax Journal, a student-run online journal launched in 2011.
The Lucas College and Graduate School of Business of San José State University welcomes applications for part-time faculty appointments to teach specialized MST courses where both teaching and practical experience offers a rich learning experience to prepare our students for real world tax practice.
