Job Summary:

Provides excellent customer service and communicates established university policies and procedures to students, faculty, and staff. Under general supervision, accurately posts cashiering entries to student accounts and the general ledger and assist with the disbursement of various checks.

Responsibilities:

Student Account Support & Customer Service:

- Apply general knowledge of financial record-keeping methods, procedures, and practices to support student account operations. Serves as the point of contact for student account inquiries by providing customer service in person, by phone, email, and zoom. Communicates established university policies and procedures related to student accounts to resolve problems. Refers complex issues to appropriate staff as needed.

- Under close supervision, use the Student Finance system to release holds, review entries such as aid, charges, and payments, and answer inquiries pertaining to students' accounts.

 Cashiering and Payment Processing

- Performs routine cashiering duties, including processing payments, posting salary advances, accepting departmental deposits, reconciling cash drawers, and preparing the daily deposit.

- Assists with the disbursement of Master and Student Assistant payroll, and various other checks. Includes filing signature authorization forms.

Other classification related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: 

Experience: Equivalent to one year of clerical accounting or financial record-keeping experience which has provided the above knowledge and abilities.

Education: Any combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Required Qualifications

Knowledge:

General knowledge of financial record-keeping, mathematical and general office methods, procedures, and practices.

Abilities:

Ability to review financial documents for accuracy, completeness, validity, and adherence to standards; compute and post numbers rapidly and accurately; maintain files and records; identify, trace, and correct errors; follow directions; interpret and apply written rules and regulations; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; exercise tact, courtesy, alertness, and good judgment in responding to others; use current computer word processing and spreadsheet software programs, web browsers, query tools, integrated financial systems
and/or other types of records management systems, such as student accounting, cashiering and student financial aid; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience working in higher education, student services, or public sector finance.
· Familiarity with student financial aid, cashiering operations, and FERPA compliance.
· Effective oral and written communication skills
· Microsoft Windows Office experience including Word, Excel, and Outlook email software
· Peoplesoft Enterprise Systems
· Cashnet/Transact Payments

Compensation and Benefits:

Anticipated Hiring Steps: $3, 738.00 - $3, 967.00 per month (Step 1 - Step 4)

Classification Steps: $3, 738.00 - $5, 446.00 per month (Step 1 - Step 20)

The salary offered will take into account internal equity and experience among other factors.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Position Information:

Work status: Full-time/Non-Exempt/Probationary

Academic year schedule: Monday through Friday (8:00 am – 5:00 pm), some evenings/weekends.

Summer schedule: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm), some evenings/weekends.
