
Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Assistant Director Classroom Support, the incumbent is responsible with assisting with the directives and initiatives of the Assistant Director Classroom Support. The Classroom Support Specialist responds to customer inquiries, collects and tracks issues in ticketing systems, provides support for audio, video, and multimedia equipment issues in University Supported Classrooms. The incumbent coordinates with counter parts within Classroom Support Services, Enterprise Client Services and Desktop Support Services to execute department and university initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Supports & assists with the directives and initiatives of the Assistant Director Classroom Support.
- Troubleshoots technical issues within University Classroom Pool. Identify configuration issues with instructor provided devices (BYOD) such as laptops, tablets, and smart phones.
- Responds and collects data from customers. Identifying opportunities to improve classroom technology based on faculty and student feedback.
- Assists with designing and implementing A/V solutions. Creating and reading technical drawings and related documentation.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
The ability to effectively manage customer expectations. Knowledge of electronic (digital & analog) theories, and mechanical design. Working knowledge of digital media equipment and its use. Working knowledge of basic electricity, carpentry and use of tools to ensure equipment is used and secured in a safe manner. Ability to understand computer software both desktop and server, including LAN software, MS Operating Systems ,MAC, multimedia software and hardware. Understanding of the unique capabilities of differences between manufacturers equipment and use with digital multimedia equipment. Ability to troubleshoot and repair desktop computers, printers, and other networking devices.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Education and Experience
- Equivalent to an associate’s degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field and three years of related experience required
- Bachelor degree or equivalent preferred
- 1 year of experience providing technical support in a large enterprise or large higher education institution supporting wide variety of technologies preferred.
- 3 years’ experience in audio visual fields preferred
Physical Summary
Medium work - Job involves lifting heavy-weight objects (20-40 pounds) and/or 20% - 40% of the job involves standing, squatting, kneeling, or walking. May require pushing or pulling objects within the weight limits.
Licenses/ Certifications
- Valid CA Driver License required.

Compensation
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $4,996 - $5,250 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.
CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $4,996 - $9,036 per month.

Time Base
1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.
Duration of Appointment
