THE DEPARTMENT:
The Office of Assessment and Program Review provides leadership and support in Cal Poly Pomona's efforts to create a culture of evidence, learning centeredness and continuous improvement. This Office leads institution-level assessment projects, provides consulting support for faculty engaged in program assessment efforts, provides training opportunities to enhance institutional capacity to engage in assessment, and coordinates and supports the academic program review process for the university.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analysis and report writing
- Research assessment -related topics and prepare summaries of findings. Analyze collected assessment data, including both quantitative and qualitative analyses as appropriate. Prepare both written and oral reports of assessment project findings, including potential actions to take in response to the findings. Reports will be prepared for a variety of audiences (e.g., faculty, staff, administration, students), and levels of audience experience with assessment and research methodologies.
- Analyze, report and provide data for academic program reviews, and for disciplinary and institutional accreditations Research program review-related topics and prepare summaries of findings.
Training and support
- Provides technical and research support for faculty development related to assessment of student learning
- Provides technical and research support for faculty development related to program review
- Provides technical and research support for faculty development related to survey and research design as they relate to assessment and program review processes.
- Develops and presents educational resources, including such things as online tutorials and in-person workshops, to increase faculty and staff understanding of assessment and program review
- Provides consultive support to faculty and staff on topics and issues related to assessment and program review.
- Supports projects that advance the university's quality assurance and educational effectiveness.
Institutional assessment
- Assists in the development and management of institutional assessment processes, including those undertaken for general education student learning outcomes, and other relevant outcomes-driven projects.
- Manages and maintains databases support assessment planning, evidence and data gathering, and actions taken for improvement of student learning.
- Provides support for or completes special projects related to assessment activities as assigned.
Program review
- Assists in the management of the program assessment process.
- Provides data analytic support for academic program review and evaluation.
- Provides research, data analysis and report writing support for institutional accreditation and for disciplinary accreditation's held by academic programs.
- Analyze changes or proposed changes in laws and policies related to program review, make comparative analyses of relevant laws and policies.
- Provides support for program review and accreditation activities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Combination - Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university. Additional experience which has demonstrated that the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledges and abilities delineated above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. and
- Two years of progressively responsible experience in technical research or statistical work in the collection, compilation, and analysis of data and graduate study in the social sciences, economics, mathematics, statistics, public or business administration or engineering may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Thorough knowledge of research techniques, including the planning of studies and investigations, determining variables, developing bibliographical and other sources of data, and preparation of research reports; general knowledge of statistical principles and procedures, including methods of collecting statistical data, simple correlation methods, time series analyses, analysis of frequency series, sampling techniques, and construction of index numbers; general knowledge of sources of information on social, economic, and population trends in California.
- Ability to prepare questionnaires and other survey instruments; ability to gather, compile, and analyze research data, and to present data in tabular, graphic, and pictorial form, ability to prepare and work clear and comprehensive reports; capacity for independent and creative thinking and writing on research and statistical problems; ability to plan, organize and supervise the work of a small team.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate degree in social sciences, education or related fields
- Experience working in higher education, and experience with learning outcomes assessment, and experience with or willingness to learn Excel macros and/or SQL

CSU Classification Salary Range
This position is part of the CSUEU bargaining unit 9. The CSU Classification Standards for this position are located on the CSU Classification Standards website. The CSU Salary Schedule is located on the CSU Salary Schedule website. The classification salary range for this position according to the respective skill level is: minimum $4,389 and maximum $7,942 per month. Please refer to the anticipated hiring range for the appropriate salary rate for this particular position.

University Driving Requirements
Positions that require driving for university business by using a personal or state vehicle must comply with the Authorized University Driver Policy. Driving records are monitored and evaluated by the Risk Management Department. The Risk Management Department evaluates a good driving report based on the following criteria. The driver must: 1. Have a valid California or other State Driver’s license. 2. Have no more than 3 motor vehicle violations or been the cause of 3 accidents in a 12-month period (or any combination of 3 thereof) 3. Not have more than 3 DMV Points, if their license is Class C or, 4. Not have more than 5 DMV Points, if their license is Class A, B, or C with endorsements.
